Hans-Günter Piro – Managing Director
After his training as an insurance broker at Vereinte Versicherung (Head office Saar-Rhein) and subsequent studies in insurance actuary, Mr. Piro remained employed with Vereinte until 1985.
This was followed by a long career at Alte Leipziger as Business Unit Manager and European representative for “commercial property insurance”, before he became Managing Director of Carl Rieck in Düsseldorf in 2000.
In addition to this area of activity, Mr. Piro is Managing Director of HMB Hamburg Marine Insurance Brokers GmbH in Hamburg since 2014.
Reinhard Jürgens – Director
Mr. Jürgens had his education as an insurance salesman in marine insurance at Georg Duncker KG Insurance Broker in Hamburg and continued working for the company after qualifying. Up to 2005 he was responsible for all areas of marine insurance, most recently as Director and Team Leader for national and international bluewater clients.
Mr. Jürgens then became a minority shareholder and Director at a well-established German shipping insurance broker, where he was in charge of day-to-day customer care and acquisition of new clients in the domestic and international maritime sector.
As of 2014, Mr. Jürgens is Director within the broking house HMB Hamburg Marine Insurance Brokers GmbH in Hamburg. In his capacity as manager, he is responsible for day-to-day customer care of national and international clients working in Brownwater and Bluewater business. He is also active in the area of acquisition of new clients and the placement of all kinds of marine risks with national and international risk carriers. Mr. Jürgens furthermore ensures that the settlement of claims between clients and underwriters proceeds smoothly.
Chris Telford – Claims Consultant (C Solutions)
Chris Telford handles the full range of marine and shipping claims including P&I, H&M, charterparty, bill of lading and general cargo disputes. He is involved in dispute resolution work in London and abroad.
Prior to joining C Solutions as a director, Chris worked for a leading international law firm. He has worked in the insurance industry for over 10 years.
C Solutions is a legal and claims consultancy that specialises in the marine insurance, shipping and energy sectors. Headquartered in the Lloyd’s Building in London, they have offices in Hamburg, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney. They are staffed by lawyers, experienced claims handlers from the P&I and H&M sectors, Master Mariners and insurance industry professionals.
Kathrin Nauta – Administration, documentation and customer care
Ms. Nauta is a qualified business administrator who was responsible for office organisation, administration and documentation at Carl Rieck Assecuradeur seit 1845 GmbH & Co.KG in Hamburg.
She has been employed with the Marine insurance broker HMB Hamburg Marine Insurance Brokers GmbH in Hamburg since 2014.
Ms. Nauta’s position with HMB entails the same scope of responsibilities, with the addition of day-to-day customer care.
Marc Ludwig – Head of Accounting/span>

Mr. Ludwig is Head of the Accounts Department at Carl Rieck Assecuradeur seit 1845 GmbH & Co. KG in Hamburg since 2006, where he has single signing power as of 1 April 2014.
Since August 2014, Mr. Ludwig is also Head of Accounting at the marine insurance broker HMB Hamburg Marine Insurance Brokers
Kirsten Röttger – Administration, documentation and customer care
Ms. Röttger is a qualified business administrator who started her career at a German Underwriting Agent in Hamburg in 1982.
From 1988 until 2000 Ms. Röttger has been employed with messrs. Georg Duncker KG Insurance Broker and was part of the “Special Risk” and “Support” department in Hamburg. Her tasks were documentation, correspondence with clients as well as establishing calculations.
In 2001 Ms. Röttger changed over to messrs. Junge & Co Versicherungsmakler GmbH in Hamburg. Until 2015 Ms. Röttger worked in the Marine Hull department. She enlarged her tasks by offering and calculating WAR Risks and Kidnap & Ransom insurances. In addition she had daily telephone contact with clients and insurers in respect of all matters concerning premiums and settlements.
Before joining HMB, Ms. Röttger worked during the last two years for an Underwriting Agent in Hamburg.
Within HMB, Ms. Röttger is responsible for office management, including administration, documentation, invoicing and customer care.
